Viscose is an artificially produced clothing fabric made from the natural material cellulose, which is made from wood without changing the chemical make-up.
When processing the wood, a viscous solution is created, so called “viscose”, with a consistency similar to that of warm honey. To produce a spinning mass, the cellulose is first mixed with sodium hydroxide solution; after that, carbon disulphide (CS) is allowed to act.
After double or triple filtration, maturation and deaeration, this spinning mass is pressed into a spinning bath by means of gear pumps through spinnerets. This spinning mass (regenerated cellulose) coagulates after the nozzles into viscose filaments, which are drawn off from the spinning bath to spin into fibers.
The viscose fibers are washed and bleached in a post-treatment process. Our bleaching process is chlorine-free.
